In September 2022 while having a bonfire at a friend’s home I mentioned my desire to have a place where I could display all my and my friends‘ beautiful creations. Considering the fact that his wife is one of my favorite artists, he was completely enthralled with the idea.

I let him know I had no idea how to run a business and he said he has that part of my dream covered. Within 2 weeks from this conversation, we were looking at locations around St. Peter and Mankato. I found the perfect spot, in my mind, here at 515 N Riverfront Dr Ste 160, Mankato, MN 56001.

It’s in a fantastic up and coming area of Mankato with a wonderful vibe and a great selection of small businesses. My entrance is just off the beaten path enough to make me less afraid of having to have an amazing window display competing with other places I felt were out of my league. On top of that the shop has just the right amount of eccentricity and uniqueness for my standards.

I started my little shop with products from 9 artists that are friends or friends of friends. I have already grown that number to over 27 artisans of all types. Everyone who has items for sale here is local to Minnesota, many from the Mankato area and nearby small towns. I have met and talked with each and every one of my consignors.

On November 12, 2022 after many hours of painting walls, thrift furniture shopping and cataloging inventory, I opened my doors for the first time for a friends and family opening. I have had a crash course in understanding how to run a retail business, and trust me, I’m still learning. This year I want to get this website up and running with at least pictures and information on the products in Artistry Cove. Eventually I will try to get some items for sale online and links to those artists who already do online sales on their own.
